I don't know how new this is, but I think recent (past month?) .. regardless .. looks like it has lots of potential!

What a comment. I have watched archive.org grow through the years and this comment is a good example for almost 3 years ago the site was well on the right track.

How about we elaborate on this thread and post a question about what people would like to see happen on the site next?

What would you like to see archive.org do next, lets hear about it...

There's probably no way to do this, but I'd like to actually see the source code behind the site that's archived.

I have a site that's lost data in the past and it sure would be cool to look back, see what was done and recreate it with a lot less hassle.

Can this be done?

To my knowledge, this is not feasible.
It would probably take up gobbs of memory.

Having archived source code is probably a obscure idea, but I for one would use it. 365er

I would like to see the Archive do modules that we could add to our sites. Something based upon topics. This would add value to a site while drawing people who will use and visit the Archive more often.

I bet 75% of the internet still does not know about the Archive and this would be a way to get exposure and more visibility.

I have a site that has 5600 items on other peoples sites and for each item I get a link back to my site.

I think Tyler meant the education collection itself, not the archive as a whole. (But BTW, first datestamp on this collection page is 8/5/2005.) ;)

Here's one on my wishlist for you: User-added tag clouds, not just uploader-added keywords (which are often poorly chosen even for their own items). Anyone know say, a third-party app that Archive engineers could maybe tack onto here? A last.fm or delicio.us type functionality would be super-cool. (I know it's been discussed in the past, but hasn't happened yet.)

The "embed this" feature was a nice new addition recently here!

Check out freesound's setup. I am sure Bram would point you in the right direction code wise.

Might I also suggest that when someone signs up for a "new" account that a conformation from a valid email address be MANDATORY to avoid the trolls from creating countless logins. Making them create new emails would at least slow them down, kinda like the waiting period for buying a pistol when you are still pissed off, ya know?
